Michelle Hubbs, M.A.L., is a mediator, complex litigation paralegal, and human rights advocate whose work centers on advancing individual rights and dismantling systemic barriers that limit equal access to justice.
In 2022, Michelle founded The Advocacy Center, Inc., the first multi-state non-attorney agency service center focused on conflict resolution and nonprofit advocacy. The organization was created to help individuals navigate legal and institutional systems that often prevent meaningful access to justice. TAC dissolved in 2025 after encountering many of the same systemic barriers it was created to address—an experience that further strengthened Michelle’s commitment to reforming those structures.
Michelle now focuses her work in complex litigation, family and dependency law, advocating for systemic reform that protects the rights of vulnerable individuals, particularly in matters involving violence against women and children. Her advocacy also extends to issues of equal access to justice and the protection of environmental resources as fundamental human rights concerns.
Michelle’s work centers on identifying structural barriers within legal, social, and institutional systems that restrict access to fundamental rights, including justice, safety, education, and environmental resources. Her advocacy emphasizes nonviolent, rights-affirming approaches to conflict resolution, accountability, and systemic reform.
She brings nearly three decades of experience in strategic communications, law, and policy, including more than twenty-five years working as a complex litigation paralegal and mediator. Her work across multiple jurisdictions informs a broad perspective on how legal systems function in practice—and where they fail the people they are meant to serve.
Drawing on both professional experience and advanced mediation training, Michelle also advocates for expanded education within the legal and dispute resolution communities. She promotes structured training for mediators, judges, and attorneys to better recognize coercive control, understand narcissistic dynamics, restore agency to litigants, and establish clear boundaries that promote safety and clarity.
Michelle’s work is guided by wisdom, integrity, tact, and deep respect for human dignity. Whether advancing human rights advocacy or navigating complex interpersonal conflict, her approach seeks to reduce harm, restore agency, and promote peace grounded in fundamental rights.
Services
Mediation & Conflict Resolution
Michelle provides professional mediation and strategic conflict-resolution services in family, civil, dependency, real estate, contract, and personal injury disputes, helping parties reach equitable and durable resolutions outside of court. Her work is particularly focused on high-conflict cases and narcissistic dynamics, equipping individuals, families, and teams with the tools to engage difficult relationships with clarity, discernment, and emotional regulation.
Through structured dialogue, boundary-focused strategies, and restorative communication practices, clients learn how to disengage from manipulation, reduce reactivity, and communicate with intention and restraint. This includes practical, evidence-informed tools such as gray-rocking, parallel communication, non-escalation techniques, and strategic detachment where appropriate. Rather than assuming reconciliation is always the goal, Michelle’s approach prioritizes psychological safety, self-preservation, and informed decision-making, supporting clients in distinguishing between healthy resolution and situations that require firm boundaries or limited engagement.
In matters involving entrenched disputes or high-conflict personalities, Michelle brings a structured, process-driven approach that emphasizes safety, clarity, and effective communication. She is experienced in managing emotionally dysregulated dynamics, power imbalances, and communication breakdowns, helping parties remain focused on problem-solving rather than escalation. Her approach integrates legal insight, emotional intelligence, and restorative communication to create space for understanding and resolution—even in the most complex or emotionally charged circumstances.
Michelle’s goal is not merely to resolve the immediate dispute, but to support sustainable outcomes that reduce future conflict and promote long-term stability. By emphasizing accountability, clear boundaries, and practical solutions aligned with both legal frameworks and real-world realities, she helps clients reach agreements that protect dignity, autonomy, and justice while restoring stability and peace.
